Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he expects billions of people to be using personal artificial intelligence agents in everyday life within the next five years. He made the comments during Meta’s earnings call on Wednesday, saying the company is developing the technology.
Zuckerberg said the future personal AI agent will be a major market because it could work around the clock on a user’s behalf in areas such as health, finance and career development. He added that consumer AI products must be intuitive and usable without complicated setup, unlike tools built for developers.
He also said Meta is well positioned to lead the next wave of AI because it has successfully scaled platforms used by billions of people. Meta, which has long focused on its open-source Llama model, now plans to pursue a new strategy that combines open and closed AI models.
The move suggests Meta is formally adopting a two-track approach to AI development, including closed models such as Muse Spark, in an effort to strengthen its competitiveness in the field.
