A man was fatally shot by Los Angeles Police Department officers early Thursday at the intersection of Normandie Avenue and West 22nd Street, according to police. The shooting happened at 4:58 a.m. after the man allegedly threatened pedestrians and vehicles with a baseball bat.
Officers from LAPD’s Southwest Division responded to the scene and confronted the man before opening fire. Police have not yet confirmed how many officers discharged their weapons.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. LAPD said it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
