Residents in Beverly Grove and nearby Fairfax are calling for stronger action as repeated home break-ins and robberies continue to unsettle the neighborhood. Some say the same homes have been hit more than once, causing losses that total tens of thousands of dollars.

One resident, Delaney, said she came face to face with three masked men about a year and a half ago when they tried to break through a glass window in her backyard. She said she initially thought the men were her husband or children, but then realized they were smashing a sliding door. Delaney said she often does not feel safe in her own home and added that conditions have not improved.

Delaney also said home invasions and robberies are happening almost every week on some streets. Last week, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a burglary near North La Jolla Avenue in Beverly Grove. In May, police also responded to a dangerous break-in on Oakwood Avenue while a family, including young children, was inside.

Residents said the repeated crimes have left some neighbors seriously considering moving elsewhere. They are also pressing for more patrols and other measures to address what they describe as an ongoing safety problem.
