Police were in a standoff Thursday night with a man who was allegedly carrying a machete near South Burlington Avenue and West 8th Street in Los Angeles.
The incident was reported around 8:15 p.m., when officers with the LAPD’s Rampart Division responded to the scene and found the suspect armed with the large bladed weapon. Police took up positions in an alley south of the location and were holding the suspect at gunpoint, according to the report.
Additional officers were requested, and more support units were arriving at the scene. As of the latest report, the suspect had not been arrested and the area remained under police control.
The location was identified as South Burlington Avenue and West 8th Street in the 90057 ZIP code, in the Westlake area of Los Angeles.
