Police continued searching Thursday evening after a response to an incident in South Los Angeles led to the wrong person being detained near 2635 S. Western Ave. According to the report, officers initially took someone into custody, but that person was later determined not to be the actual suspect.
The incident was reported at 6:55 p.m., when a Southwest Division officer requested emergency backup at the scene. After realizing the first detention was mistaken, the officer called for additional help and the investigation continued.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s investigative team is now searching the area for the real suspect. The suspect has not been arrested, and the field investigation is ongoing.
