BTS is taking the stage at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., for a concert tied to its world tour. The performance comes just two weeks after the group appeared at the World Cup final halftime show at the same venue, a stadium that can hold 82,500 people.[1][2][13]
The concert is part of BTS’ “Arirang” world tour, which the Korean article says emphasizes Korean identity and cultural roots on stage. The group began its North American run in Tampa in April and has drawn large crowds across North America and Europe.[13]
The tour has also sparked fan events in the New York and New Jersey area. In New Jersey, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization hosted a welcome event with souvenirs and information on Korean tourism and traditional culture, while Grand Central Terminal held a T-shirt-making event and the Rockefeller Center observation deck introduced BTS-themed menu items.[3][19]
BTS last performed in New Jersey about seven years ago, and the latest show again placed K-pop on one of the world’s biggest sports stages, this time alongside a venue that recently hosted the FIFA World Cup final.[9][10][11]
