A man armed with a pistol and live ammunition was arrested at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes just days before Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to Southern California, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities said federal agents in plain clothes spotted a suspicious person on the golf course property around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, prompting response from Lomita sheriff’s deputies. The man was seen walking the grounds, taking photos and videos, and appearing to monitor security-related activity.
The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey. Deputies said they found a 16-round magazine and hollow-point ammunition in his pants pocket at the time of arrest. A search of Taele’s vehicle in the golf club parking lot turned up a handgun with a round in the chamber and an additional magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition.
Taele was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon and possessing prohibited ammunition. He was already under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department in connection with a robbery case. On Monday, the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force executed a search warrant at Taele’s home in Downey, where investigators found an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45-caliber 1911 pistol, an AR-platform upper receiver, body armor and large-capacity magazines.
