NJ Prison Guard Charged in Affair With Inmate at FCI Fort Dix

A 27-year-old federal corrections officer at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey has been charged with sexually abusing an inmate after prosecutors said the two maintained an improper relationship for more than a year. The case has drawn attention to security lapses at the low-security federal prison in Burlington County, which houses about 4,000 male inmates.

Federal authorities identified the officer as Jordan Pensak and said the relationship began sometime after April 2024. Prosecutors said the pair repeatedly met in a prison office and exchanged sexually explicit photos and messages, using contraband cellphones to communicate.

Investigators also said the inmate paid other prisoners to act as lookouts and warn them when guards were nearby. Authorities recovered two illegal cellphones that contained more than 100 explicit images, and messages found on Pensak’s personal phone included a discussion about whether she might be pregnant.

Pensak has been released on bail and could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The charges are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
