LOS ANGELES — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle driven by a man armed with a rifle around 2 a.m. Tuesday at Wilshire Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue in the heart of Koreatown.
Police responded quickly and shut down the intersection, which remained blocked as of the latest report. The injured pedestrian’s condition has not been released.
Authorities have not said whether the armed driver intentionally targeted the pedestrian or whether the crash was accidental. Investigators are working to identify the suspect and determine exactly what happened.
Wilshire and Vermont is one of the busiest intersections in Koreatown, a major hub for the Korean-American community in Los Angeles, so drivers in the area were urged to use caution while the investigation continues.
