Kongnamul-bap, a familiar Korean home-cooked rice dish, drew the lowest score in a new TasteAtlas ranking of Korean rice dishes. The global food rating platform said the dish received 2.4 out of 5 points, based on user reviews.
TasteAtlas listed kongnamul-bap at the bottom of its “lowest-rated Korean rice dishes” ranking, followed by nude gimbap at 2.7 points. Chungmu gimbap and baekseolgi tied for third at 3.2 points each. The list also included other well-known Korean foods such as noodle gimbap, Chungmu gimbap, baekseolgi, injeolmi and nurungji.
The ranking reflects the views of users on the platform, not an objective measure of taste. TasteAtlas said the list was compiled to identify relatively lower-rated dishes, not to label foods as bad.
For many Koreans, kongnamul-bap is a common homestyle meal, often associated with simple, everyday dining. The result highlights how some Korean dishes that are well known at home can still be unfamiliar to overseas diners.
