The unidentified speaker argued that the city should provide private spaces for masturbation or consensual sexual activity as a way to promote equality. He also said the project, described as “public sex huts,” should be funded by taxpayers and run under professional supervision.
Councilwoman Traci Park later posted video of the exchange under the title “Things That Can Only Happen in L.A.,” showing her visibly shocked as the man spoke. In the video’s closing moments, Park said, “No, we are absolutely not going to create public sex huts,” making clear the council would not take up the idea.
