Horizon Organic Dairy is voluntarily recalling 53,760 cases of shelf-stable 1% chocolate milk after receiving complaints that some packages were bloated and the product may spoil early. The recall covers 8-ounce aseptic cartons sold in 12-pack and 18-pack bundles, according to the company and the Food and Drug Administration.
The affected products have best-by dates in January and February 2027. The 12-pack carries UPC 742365002700 and includes best-by dates of Jan. 28, Jan. 30, Jan. 31, Feb. 1, Feb. 2 and Feb. 3, 2027. The 18-pack carries UPC 742365208867 and includes best-by dates of Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and Feb. 2, 2027.
Horizon said the recall began Aug. 7 after consumer complaints about packaging that appeared bloated and contents that could develop an unpleasant taste, odor or texture. The company said customers who bought the recalled items should throw them away immediately.
Consumers are also being advised to keep their purchase receipt and contact the company’s customer service team to ask about a possible refund.
