Korean Air to Launch Free Starlink Wi-Fi on Flights Sept. 15

Korean Air will begin offering free Starlink-based in-flight Wi-Fi on Sept. 15, giving passengers on select retrofitted aircraft internet access in every cabin class. The service will launch on large aircraft that have completed the upgrade and will be expanded gradually to more planes.

Passengers will be able to connect by entering only their name and seat number, making it easier to use streaming services, web search, online games and messaging during flights. The airline said the Wi-Fi will be available without charge to all seats on the equipped aircraft.

At launch, the service will be available on four Korean Air aircraft, including three Airbus A350-900s and one Boeing 777-300ER, according to the report. Korean Air plans to roll out the service across more aircraft over time.

For long-haul travelers, the new service could make transpacific flights to and from the United States more useful for work and entertainment. Korean Air said it plans to expand the Starlink-based Wi-Fi to more of its fleet in stages.
