Security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered former Vice President Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff’s Malibu property late Friday night before he reached the home, according to Harris spokesperson Eduardo Negrón. Harris and Emhoff were not at the residence when the incident happened.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Negrón said early reports that a woman had reached the front door were incorrect, adding that the intruder did not get inside the house or near the entrance.
The individual cooperated with authorities and left the scene voluntarily, so no arrest was made. Negrón thanked security and law enforcement for their quick response.
Sheriff’s officials said patrols around the Malibu home have been increased as a precaution. Harris and Emhoff reportedly bought the property recently for more than $8 million.
