Irvine Internet Installer Arrested in Unauthorized Phone Video Case

An internet installation technician in Irvine was arrested after police said he improperly sent a female customer’s private sexual video from her cellphone to his own device while setting up Wi-Fi service.

Irvine police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Logan Edward Gray-McCannon, a contractor for ITC Service Group. Officers arrested him at his home in Hemet on suspicion of commercial burglary, unauthorized dissemination of private sexual images and unauthorized computer access.

Police said Gray-McCannon was installing Wi-Fi at a woman’s apartment in early August when he asked to use her phone, saying he needed to test the signal. The woman told investigators he had her phone for about 10 to 15 minutes and she could not see exactly what he was doing.

Later, she checked iMessage records on her linked iPad and found that a private sexual video she had previously sent to her spouse had been sent to an unfamiliar number. The message had been deleted from her phone but remained on the iPad, and investigators said the number was linked to Gray-McCannon.

Police said evidence recovered in the case suggests there could be additional victims. Anyone with similar complaints or information has been asked to contact Irvine Police Detective Sanders at jsanders@cityofirvine.org.
