President Donald Trump said Friday that he is banning CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, escalating his long-running criticism of major news organizations. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the move takes effect immediately.
Trump said the ban was a response to what he called the outlets’ continued “fake news” coverage. He claimed the media should not be allowed to “write or report fiction or lies” when covering him, his administration and the United States.
He also attacked MS NOW, saying it had changed its name from MSNBC because of low viewership and credibility. Trump called Politico “corrupt” and accused it of benefiting from an $8 million subscription under the Biden administration.
Trump added that other news outlets he considers “fake news” could face similar action. The White House did not immediately explain how the ban would be enforced.
