The U.S. Postal Service has released its recommended shipping deadlines for the Christmas season and urged customers in Southern California and across the country to mail gifts and cards as early as possible.
For the contiguous United States, USPS recommends sending First-Class Mail and USPS Ground Advantage by Dec. 17, Priority Mail by Dec. 18 and Priority Mail Express by Dec. 19.
For Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories, the recommended deadlines are Dec. 16 for USPS Ground Advantage, Dec. 17 for First-Class Mail, Dec. 18 for Priority Mail and Dec. 19 for Priority Mail Express.
USPS said the full schedule for military mail and overseas deliveries through APO, FPO and DPO addresses will be available starting in mid-October on its official holiday shipping website. The agency also said customers can request free packaging supplies online or at post offices and schedule package pickup without visiting a post office.
