The U.S. Department of Agriculture has ordered a nationwide recall of about 167,000 pounds of raw pork, beef and goat products after finding they were distributed without federal inspection and labeled with a false inspection mark. The recall covers products made by Star Meat Delivery Inc. in Lucama, North Carolina, and shipped under the A&D Foods label.

The recalled meat was produced before Sept. 22 and vacuum-packed for distribution in boxes to retailers and restaurants across the country. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said products bearing the false establishment number “EST. 1363” are considered misbranded and unsafe because they were not inspected by federal officials.

Consumers are being urged to check refrigerators and freezers for the affected products and throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. The USDA warned that meat processed without proper inspection can carry a higher risk of contamination, including harmful bacteria and allergens.

No illnesses or injuries have been reported so far. The USDA classified the recall as Class I, its highest risk level, meaning the products could cause serious health consequences if eaten.
