LE SSERAFIM Surprises with Melodic Turn in New Single ‘HOT’
LE SSERAFIM has unveiled a surprising new musical direction with their fifth mini-album “HOT,” shifting from their signature urban sound to a more emotional, melodic approach.
“The title sounds intense, but the melody is surprisingly lyrical,” member Kim Chaewon explained during their March 14 showcase in Seoul. This marks a significant departure from their previous hits like “Fearless,” “Antifragile,” and “Unforgiven.”
The new release completes a trilogy that began with “EASY” and “CRAZY” in 2024. “With ‘HOT,’ we wanted to express our strengthened mindset and growth,” said Hong Eunchae, explaining how the trilogy progressed from confronting anxiety to embracing passion.
The five-track mini-album features collaborations with Jungle band members and includes “So Cynical,” which appeared in “Overwatch 2” and was co-written by three LE SSERAFIM members. The title track explores burning with passion for what you love, despite uncertain outcomes.
This release also marks LE SSERAFIM’s first exploration of love themes since their 2022 debut. “We wanted to talk about ‘comprehensive love’ that can be interpreted differently,” explained Huh Yunjin.
As they approach their third anniversary, the group will embark on their first world tour next month, starting in Incheon and continuing to cities across Asia.
Sakura shared her hopes with a smile: “If we give our best, perhaps ‘HOT’ will enter the Billboard Hot 100?”
