HYBE Latin America Partners with Telemundo for Band Survival Show: ‘Pase a la Fama’
HYBE’s Mexican subsidiary, HYBE Latin America, has announced a major expansion into the Latin American music market with a new band audition program in partnership with Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo, set to premiere on June 8.
The survival music competition, titled “Pase a la Fama” (Step to Fame), aims to discover new Mexican band talent through a rigorous selection process that will be broadcast to Spanish-speaking audiences across the United States through Telemundo, an NBC Universal network specializing in Spanish-language drama, reality shows, and news content.
The program will select 55 participants to join the “Pase a la Fama” artist camp, where they will undergo systematic training and fierce competition, all captured for television audiences. The winner or winning team will receive a $100,000 prize alongside an opportunity to sign a recording contract with HYBE Latin America.
Edgar Barrera, a 21-time Latin Grammy Award winner and recipient of a Grammy Award at the 57th Grammy Awards, will produce the program’s theme song and original album. The judging panel features prominent figures in Mexican popular music, including singer-actress Ana Bárbara, Adriel Favela, and renowned composer Horacio Palencia.
“‘Pase a la Fama’ is a love letter to the intrinsic power of music and the process of creating something unforgettable,” said Isaac Lee, Chairman of HYBE Latin America. “Starting from the roots of the artist and reaching HYBE’s global vision, we will demonstrate what possibilities can be realized when talent meets opportunity.”
This initiative represents HYBE’s strategic expansion into the Latin American market, applying the company’s expertise in talent development and global promotion to a new cultural context. The move follows HYBE’s pattern of international growth, having previously established operations in the United States and Japan.
The Latin American music market has shown substantial growth in recent years, with streaming numbers for Latin music increasing significantly on global platforms. HYBE’s entry into this territory signals the company’s ambition to diversify beyond K-pop while applying its successful training and production methodologies to different musical traditions.
